Indian Government Approves 568-Km Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway to Boost Connectivity

The Indian government has officially approved the construction of the 568-km Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway, a six-lane greenfield project aimed at transforming regional connectivity. With an estimated investment of Rs 386.45 billion, this project is set to enhance infrastructure and economic development. Bihar will contribute Rs 275.52 billion, making it a crucial stakeholder in the initiative.

Key Highlights of the Expressway

The expressway will cover 313 villages across 39 blocks in eight districts of Bihar, including West Champaran, East Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. Of the total stretch, 417 km will pass through Bihar, significantly improving regional connectivity and reducing travel time between key locations. Bridges over major rivers like the Gandak, Bagmati, and Kosi will be constructed to facilitate seamless movement of goods and people. .
